Power and Authority of a Believer

The Mandate of Dominion - From Subduing to ReigningThe divine narrative of humanity began with a profound and authoritative mandate, ringing with the very essence of purpose and partnership: "e;Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth"e; (Genesis 1:28). This was no mere suggestion, no casual invitation to exist; it was the original blueprint for human existence, a comprehensive call to partner with the Creator in establishing order, beauty, and righteous stewardship over all of creation. God, in His infinite wisdom and boundless generosity, entrusted humanity with a kingly authority, a shared reign over the pristine world He had just fashioned. This was our initial inheritance, a life of absolute dominion where the spiritual and natural worlds operated in seamless harmony, thriving under our loving and righteous administration. But this perfect order, this idyllic picture of co-regency, was tragically shattered by the fall of Adam. The dominion was not merely challenged; it was lost, not just in its practical exercise, but in its very essence. The scepter of authority was usurped by an insidious enemy, a "e;strongman"e; who came with a singular, destructive agenda: to steal, kill, and destroy. Humanity was plunged from a state of reigning into a new reality one of subjugation, fear, struggle, and often, utter helplessness in the face of chaos and spiritual opposition. The very earth groaned under the curse, reflecting the dominion that had slipped from humanity s grasp. Yet, our story, woven by the masterful hand of a redeeming God, does not end in despair. In the fullness of time, precisely at the kairos moment appointed by the Father, a better, unique, and incomparably more powerful mandate was instituted through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. This new mandate did not simply restore what was lost; it transcended it. Jesus, the last Adam, the Victorious King, and the ultimate Lord of all, systematically reclaimed all authority in heaven and on earth. He triumphed over every principality and power, disarming them and making a public spectacle of them on the Cross (Colossians 2:15). He recovered the lost title deed of creation and purchased back humanity s rightful place of dominion. However, Jesus, in His strategic wisdom, knew that this reclaimed dominion would not be fully manifested on earth without a divine plan that involved His redeemed people. The enemy, Satan, the number one adversary and a relentless accuser of the brethren, had been cast down to the earth with great wrath, knowing his time was short (Revelation 12:12). His presence meant continued resistance, contention, and the need for active engagement. Jesus understood that true dominion, tangible rulership on earth, is utterly impossible without first subduing the strongman and dismantling his works. That was precisely the reason He deliberately and powerfully bestowed His authority upon us, His Church. Only then, having equipped His disciples with this indispensable power, did He ascend to be at the Right Hand of the Father. We, His followers, are now His empowered agents, His delegated authorities, His co-laborers, entrusted with a master key to unlock and enforce His dominion on earth.
