Alexander Nikolaevich Tsekhanovich (1862-1897) was a talented Russian writer, one of many writers whose premature death cut short his creative and life path at the height of his powers. He left behind an unusually diverse literary legacy: everyday and moral stories, criminal and adventure novels. Tsekhanovich collaborated with many editorial boards of newspapers and magazines in St. Petersburg, but, publishing mainly in periodicals, the writer did not live to see his works appear in book form. Only posthumously, through the efforts of publishers, his prose was collected and published. This volume contains the fascinating novel "e;Russian Rocambole"e;, the main characters of which are indistinguishable, like doubles, brothers: the legitimate and illegitimate sons of Count Radishchev. The book masterfully describes the criminal world of St. Petersburg, full of dark secrets, which bizarrely connects the fates of the inhabitants of the capital's underworld and the heirs of the best aristocratic families.
