Er wirkte stets über enge Fachgrenzen hinaus und hat Maßstäbe gesetzt, die bis heute fortwirken. Der von ihm entworfene wissenschaftliche Universalismus ist noch immer hochgradig aktuell. In dieser kurzen Biographie werden das Leben und Wirken Wilhelm von Humboldts beschrieben und seine wichtigsten Leistungen gewürdigt. Das Bildmaterial der Printausgabe ist in diesem E-Book nicht enthalten.§§Peter Berglar, geboren 1919 in Kassel und aufgewachsen in Darmstadt, lebte seit 1950 in Köln. Mehr als zwanzig Jahre war er als Arzt (Internist) tätig, ehe er sich, ab 1966, endgültig und ausschließlich den Geisteswissenschaften zuwandte. Er promovierte mit einer Monographie über Walther Rathenau zum Dr. phil. und habilitierte sich an der Universität zu Köln für das Fach Mittlere und Neuere Geschichte. Neben seiner dortigen Lehrtätigkeit wirkte er als Schriftsteller und Publizist weit über die Grenzen seines Fachs hinaus. Zahlreiche belletristische Werke, Essays und Aufsätze sowie Biographien, u. a. erschienen bei rowohlts monographien die Bände "Annette von Droste-Hülshoff" (1967), "Matthias Claudius" (1972) und "Maria Theresia" (1980). Er starb 1989.
