2026 Long Island Sounds

In assembling this year's Long Island Sounds anthology, I was reminded again of how powerfully our poets speak to the shifting terrain of memory, identity, and place. Each poem in this volume carries its own distinct voice, yet together they form a chorus of lived experience-one that is unmistakably rooted in a layered cultural and emotional landscape.

Several works in this collection linger in the quiet spaces of domestic life, transforming familiar rooms and routines into sites of revelation. One poem, for instance, turns a simple kitchen table into a place where generations meet, its imagery echoing the tender negotiations between past and present. Another poem moves outward, into the salt‑swept edges of the island, where the speaker confronts both solitude and resilience against the backdrop of the Atlantic.
