The manifesto presents a faith-driven, structural blueprint for eradicating poverty in Africa. The core thesis is that poverty can be eradicated through the creation of good jobs, specifically by scaling Christian founder-led small businesses through an integrated mechanism of curated content and catalytic capital deployed into a community of practice .

5-2-50 (pronounced Five to Fifty) is a movement designed to eradicate poverty in Africa. The name reflects a specific niche: taking businesses that have at least five employees and have operated for at least five years, and growing them to fifty employees. Focusing on this segment-rather than high-risk startups or stagnant large corporations-is the most resource-efficient way to create one million new jobs needed to begin eradicating systemic poverty.

The book identifies five primary reasons why small businesses get stuck: a lack of desire to grow, lack of belief, lack of knowledge, lack of resources, and a lack of psychological or spiritual strength . The 5-2-50 Impact Triangle is a mechanism to overcome these hurdles, by deploying curated content and catalytic capital through a community of practice:

  • Curated Content: Niche-specific growth strategies for Christian founders.
  • Catalytic Capital: A hybrid for-profit/non-profit Growth Fund.
  • Community of Practice: A network of Growth Groups who meet regularly, that provide peer accountability and spiritual support, augmented with regular conferences and curated networking and training events.

Rooted in the concept of the Workplace Revival, the book frames entrepreneurship as a divine calling. It posits that business leaders are in a key position to be instruments in the process of discipling our nations. Furthermore, by Freeing the Founder from day-to-day operations, these leaders are unleashed to start new ventures, mentor others, or move into other positions of influence to create a scalable network of spiritual influence and wealth generation, built on Godly principles, across the continent.

I just love the concept of 5-2-50. To eradicate poverty by eradicating unemployment is a God given vision. This is a vision for Africa but also for us in Europe and for the rest of the world. The most fascinating thing is that it is doable.

I've had the privilege of knowing Ashton Fourie personally for many years, and this book is a true reflection of his heart, faith, and unwavering passion to see poverty eradicated through sustainable job creation. 5-2-50 is more than a manifesto; it's a bold, practical vision that challenges entrepreneurs, investors, and leaders to become part of lasting transformation. I highly recommend it to anyone who believes business can be a powerful force for good.

Ashton Fourie has spent years sitting with hundreds of founders and small business owners, learning their pain points firsthand and championing what they're building. 5-2-50 is the fruit of that investment - a prophetic yet practical roadmap for how faith-driven founders can grow their businesses and become a force that eradicates poverty across Africa.
