I was sent down on Friday 23rd April 2021. It was in prison that I truly broke. I battled depression, bouts of self - harm and very serious thoughts of another suicide attempt. But this is not a journey of fear and sadness, it is the journey of self discovery I went on and a short sentence that changed my life forever.
It is about the healing I went through during my time in prison and the forgiveness I finally found through the power of the written word, all thanks to a gifted notebook that encouraged me to write, to help myself through prison. Writing became my source of self help and escape. On my release I shared my writing with a few people and with the help of a friend who had read some of my work my notebook was typed up, and A Short Sentence, the book, was born.
