Die Schwerpunkte liegen im Kündigungs- und im Lohnfortzahlungsrecht sowie im Krankenversicherungs- und im Rentenversicherungsrecht. Der Maßstab der Prüfung ergibt sich in erster Linie aus Art. 3 Abs. 1 GG. Bei der Untersuchung werden zunächst die historische Entwicklung, dann die geltenden Regelungen sowie Rechtsprechung und Literatur dargestellt. Daran schließt sich eine Überprüfung anhand des Art. 3 Abs. 1 GG an. Daraus wird gefolgert, welche Änderungen des geltenden Rechts verfassungsrechtlich geboten und welche rechtspolitisch erwünscht sind. Die Untersuchung hat dadurch sowohl einen rechtsdogmatischen als auch einen rechtspolitischen Charakter.
