Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, einseitig bedruckt, Note: 2,0, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der italienische Mönch und Prediger Arnold von Brescia ( 1155) war eine wichtige Persönlichkeit des 12. Jahrhunderts. Doch ist die Rolle, die er vor allem in Italien gespielt hat, nicht eindeutig zu definieren. Als was sollen wir ihn sehen? War er ein Reformer, der in seinen Methoden zu weit gegangen war, oder war er ein Ketzer, ein Irrgläubiger , der falsche Lehren verbreitete und eine Bedrohung für die katholische Kirche darstellte?Die Zeit von Arnolds Wirken war geprägt durch die Nachwirkungen des Investiturstreites und eine Reihe Gegenpäpste, die an der Unfehlbarkeit des Oberhauptes der christlichen Kirche zweifeln ließen. Die Kirche war nicht mehr das unantastbare Gebilde, an dem keine Kritik geübt werden durfte. Innerhalb und außerhalb der Kirche gab es Reformbestrebungen, da durchaus erkannt worden war, dass die Kirche dieser Reformen bedurfte. Doch wie weit durfte man dabei gehen? Wann wurde in den Augen der Kirche aus Reform Ketzerei?In der vorliegenden Arbeit soll versucht werden, das Leben Arnolds von Brescia nachzuzeichnen und dann, in einem zweiten Teil, seine Ansichten in den Rahmen der Lehren seiner Ketzer -Zeitgenossen Heinrich der Mönch, Peter von Bruis und Tanchelm von Antwerpen einzuordnen, um diese Fragen zu beantworten.
