Tokyo, at the height of the bubble. Money floods the city. Neon burns all night. Fortunes are made, laundered, and buried before dawn.

And in a quiet corner of Asakusa, someone wants a building badly enough to kill for it.

When a foreign correspondent returns from the edges of war to bury his mother, he finds a different kind of battlefield waiting at home. His thirteen-year-old sister, Miki, is all that stands between a small, stubborn property and the men determined to take it-yakuza fixers, a debt-ridden cop, and a system that doesn't bother pretending to be fair.

What starts as pressure-threats, broken windows, quiet visits-turns uglier fast.
