Casey Barnes is raising her two kids all alone since her husband's time in the Marines ended with a roadside bomb and a folded flag sent home. After years of moving around, she settled back where she grew up, a small town outside of New Orleans. Her only lifelines are her pre-teens, her sister Annie, and the support group she attends begrudgingly. Annie is always encouraging her to move on, but Casey feels fine where she is. Mason LeBlanc walked into the hospital three days ago with his pregnant wife. He left with a newborn baby girl, a bag of his wife's things, and no idea how to do this on his own. Between running his construction business and being a newly widowed dad, he's a bit of mess. That's when a nurse hands him a card for a support group. She promises him it's everything he needs. 

When Casey finds herself at the same support group as Mason, she instantly and surprisingly feels things she hasn't since Ryan passed. Casey realizes maybe she's not as fine as she thinks she is. As an unlikely friendship forms, Casey and Mason learn things about themselves and their former relationships they've never faced before.
