Bucharest, Romania's capital and largest city, has a bustling old quarter, impressive buildings from the time of Ceaucescu and great cafes and nightlife. Its centre is dominated by the enormous Palatul Parlamentului government building (Palace of Parliament) that looks like an enormous spaceship on its side, and the lovely leafy Cismigiu Gardens.
