Ein malerisches Bergdorf am Eingang eines der schönsten Hochtäler des Rätikons, dem Brandnertal. Die Gemeinde liegt in einer Seehöhe von 870 m. Südwestlich ein wunderbarer Blick auf eine imposante Gebirgskette, bestehend aus Schwarzkopf, Mondspitze, Schillerkopf, Alpila, Tuklar und Fundlkopf.Das Schesatobel, der größte Murbruchkessel Europas, teilt das Dorf in zwei Teile. Es wird im Volksmund das "Millionenloch" genannt, da die Verbauungen enorme Aufwendungen in Millionenhöhe in Anspruch nahmen. Niederschläge und Schneeschmelze begünstigen an den steilen Hängen die Bildung von Muren. Diese Muren bedrohen immer wieder die kleinen Kulturflächen der Bauern, die die Berghänge bewirtschaften. Die Land- und Forstwirtschaft ist heute zwar nicht mehr überall die Haupterwerbsquelle, aber als Existenzgrundlage für einige Bauern immer noch von großer Bedeutung.
