The Free Software Movement (MSL) is characterized as an agent of transformation, as it aims to break with the current economic system by using the potential of networks, mainly the Internet. Consequently, it has reached various segments of civil society and is among the most representative movements today. In addition to other agendas, the FSM focuses the technological community's efforts on raising awareness among users that migrating to open source software, which is free to be improved and adapted to each user's reality, can be much more economically viable and implies freedom of choice. Based on these considerations, this book presents a study that analyzed the relationship between some entities representing organized civil society (non-governmental organizations affiliated with the Brazilian Association of Non-Governmental Organizations) and free software and the Free Software Movement.
