The past twenty years have seen a resurgence of artists working together in small groups and larger collectives to explore new avenues of art, design, performance and commerce. In Come Together, author Francesco Spampinato showcases over forty of the most influential and compelling of this new wave of collective artists. From design studios like Project Projects, to political performance artists The Yes Men, to flash mob provocateurs Improv Everywhere and the multimedia artists Assume Vivid Astro Focus, the range of work covers every corner of the globe and a wide range of artistic endeavor. Featuring page after page of rich imagery and in-depth interviews that explore the processes, motivations and dynamics of each group, Spaminato's book is an essential resource for students, art lovers and anyone interested in the cutting edge of visual culture. A truly international showcase, featuring groups hailing from the expected (France and the UK), to the surprising (the Balkans and the Middle East), as well as Asia, South America, the United States and Canada, among others. Spampinato's compelling introduction acts as a guide for the contemporary world of collective art, placing it in its historical and political context.
