Well, they all knew something was up when Carmen was offered the command of the Pueblo Guardia Civil. And now they know. And we know. It was to do with a half ton of very valuable drugs. She stole them, of course. But she didn't. Or, if she did, they weren't really drugs. Still, headquarters accuses her, suspends her and prepares a fake report to prove it. Who can argue with a fake report, no?

Meanwhile, the 1936-39 Spanish Civil War is being refought in the village of Almendral when the bones of eleven bodies executed by the Guardia Civil are discovered. Jesús gets involved, especially when the Guardia turn up in the form of Pepe and Raúl. Now the residents are being offered a real target for their despair and anger. But instead, everyone gets a taste of what Healing and reconciliation feels like. But this doesn't end the interest the State has in disappearing those bones, and the riot squad turns up to take them away. Carmen, suspended from duty or not, gets involved, and together with Jesús dishes out another taste of reconciliation, or at least cunning.

Cunning comes into all of this. A lot of cunning, although most of the cunning ones weren't even aware they being cunning. Jesús even becomes 'an instructor of cunning', much to his surprise.

The mystery behind the drugs found in the cuartel of Pueblo unravels, quite delightfully in some instances. So, who was behind this? Cui bono? The usual suspects. There I've given it away and saved you having to read all this nonsense.
