Instead, the young brown rabbit walks into Merri's Cafe for a simple barista interview and somehow walks out as its new manager.

When Jed the Otter panics during a surprise inspection and dumps the entire business into Johnny's paws, Johnny suddenly finds himself responsible for employees, customers, inspections, rent, paperwork, and a cafe he barely knows how to operate.

Fortunately, he won't have to manage the chaos alone.

Mark Hedgehog, a messy-haired livestreamer recently fired after an embarrassing gardening disaster, needs a second chance. Josh Hedgehog, a former college athlete with connections throughout Critterpolis, needs stability of his own. Before long, the unlikely trio are sharing an apartment, learning the coffee business, and discovering that they might actually make a surprisingly effective team.

Their newest hire, Emily Brimwell, brings even more unexpected possibilities-especially when she introduces Aula, her experimental robotic cafe assistant.

But while Johnny struggles to keep Merri's Cafe running and prepare for the upcoming Coffee-Fueled Festival, Jed is working on an invention of his own. Meanwhile, the mysterious lizard merchant Rohak and his growing network have started taking an interest in Johnny, Emily, and the one Merri's Cafe location that still hasn't attracted their influence.
