Die Umgestaltung des politischen und wirtschaftlichen Systems Polens hin zur Marktwirtschaft und zum demokratischen Rechtsstaat erzwingt auch eine Änderung des Umweltrechts, welches auf eine längere Tradition zurückblicken kann. Dies eröffnet die Möglichkeit, im Transformationsprozess die Vorgaben des europäischen Umweltrechts von Anfang an mit zu berücksichtigen. Neben einer Gesamtdarstellung des Umweltrechts werden die Instrumente des polnischen Umweltrechts kritisch bewertet. Hier zeigt sich, dass in der Situation Polens auch gewinnbringend Instrumente eingesetzt werden, welche im deutschen Umweltrecht keine große Rolle spielen. Eine vergleichbar breite Darstellung des polnischen Umweltrechts gab es bislang noch nicht. Das Werk ist zum einen für Umweltrechtler von Interesse, da es Alternativen zur Umsetzung des EU-Umweltrechts aufzeigt. Auch alle, die sich mit dem Beitrittsprozess beschäftigen, werden von diesem Buch profitieren. Es wird schließlich auch Praktikern (Rechtsanwälten, Unternehmensberatern usw.) wertvolle Informationen über das polnische Umweltrecht liefern. Der Autor war wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter der FH Nordostniedersachsen und ist heute Rechtsanwalt in Hamburg. Er hat zahlreiche Beiträge zum polnischen Recht in der Fachpresse veröffentlicht und ist Vorstandsmitglied der Deutsch-Polnischen Juristenvereinigung e.V.
