So, wie viele klassische "deutsche" Märchen, z. B. der Brüder Grimm, einen "Migrationshintergrund" haben und eigentlich aus Frankreich oder Italien stammen, enthält dieser Band 20 Märchen ebenfalls "fremdländischer" Herkunft, die in die plattdeutsche Sprache und Kultur "integriert" wurden. Dinge, die dem Plattdeutschen fremd sind, wie auch z. B. Namen, geografische Gegebenheiten etc., wurden der plattdeutschen Umwelt - speziell des Schleswiger Landes - angepasst. Dazu gehört auch ein dem Plattdeutschen angemessener Erzählstil, wie ihn etwa der "Märchenprofessor" Wilhelm Wisser mit seinen Ostholsteinischen Märchen geprägt hat. Die Sprache ist das in der Literatur nur selten vertretene Platt der Schleswigschen Geest - speziell der Flensburger Gegend - das auch manche Wörter und Redewendungen sowie grammatische Eigenheiten aus dem Dänischen entlehnt hat.
