In the small town of Possum Hollow, Tennessee, feed-store worker Elmer P. Beauregard never planned on running for anything-except maybe the last piece of bacon at breakfast. But after his unexpected trip to Washington made him a local celebrity, the good-hearted (and wildly unqualified) Elmer finds himself pushed into the mayor's race against longtime incumbent Thurston Pickens.
