Die Narrischen thematisiert zwei Sportereignisse, die in Österreich zu Gedächtnisorten geworden sind: Córdoba und der '"Fall Schranz". Im Buch werden beide Ereignisse sowohl mentalitätsgeschichtlich als auch kulturwissenschaftlich im Sinne von Gedächtnis, Erinnerung und Identität verortet. Florian Labitsch erklärt, warum und wie der '"Fall Schranz" und Córdoba in den 1970-er Jahren zum Gedächtnisort avancierten. Außerdem lässt sich in der Repräsentation beider Ereignisse abseits national codierter Identitätskonstruktionen die Mehrdeutigkeit dieser Orte zeigen.
