Elias Varron has never slept like other people. Since childhood, his dreams have felt more real than waking life-structured, persistent, and disturbingly complete. Now a neuroscientist studying sleep disorders, Elias joins a Boston research institute's trials to stabilize the dreaming mind. At first, the experiments promise expanded consciousness. Then the dreams begin to change.

Subjects report vivid worlds that remain long after they wake. Animals grow violent without warning. Patients surface from sleep afraid of things they cannot name or describe, and the line between what happens in the lab and what happens after hours starts to blur.
