Mary Shelley''s classic gothic horror and science fiction novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus has inspired millions since it was published in 1818. It retraces and contextualises three international art exhibitions exploring themes within Frankenstein, and speculates on what Mary Shelley would think about the world today. Collectively, the book offers a lens through which to look at our current situation, and how art practices shape, and are shaped by, contemporary society. With a range of absorbing content this book will appeal to a wide readership, including those interested in the arts, technology, politics and the environment. The book includes full-colour illustrations and is designed by Mark Simmonds, who has designed previous Torque Editions publications and books for Tate Liverpool and Baltimore Museum of Art. The book will be launched at events in Spain, Cyprus and the UK and accompanied by online promotion by all partners, ensuring maximum exposure.
