Die vorliegende Arbeit rekonstruiert die konventionelle Geschichte des Hackens als Kulturtechnik. Bemerkenswert erscheint hierbei, dass das Material einer kulturtechnischen Lesart des Hackens seit dem Erscheinen des Standardwerks von Levy (1984) zwar offen zutage liegt, insbesondere in der Medienwissenschaft aber unter einer oft stark verengten Perspektive gelesen wird. Diese Arbeit beansprucht insofern nicht neues Material zu entdecken, sondern das vorhandene Material auf einer historischen Achse zu reorganisieren, um ein anderes, kulturtechnisches Verständnis des Hackens zu ermöglichen. Dabei sollen entlang dieser anderen Anordnung und Akzentuierung des Materials theoriegeschichtliche und systematische Gesichtspunkte miteinander verknużpft werden.
