Es gehört somit zu den empfindlichsten Organen des menschlichen Körpers. Besonders stark reagiert es auf Verzerrungen jeglicher Art. Darum ist es gerade im Bereich der NF-Elektrotechnik von Bedeutung, akustische Schallimpulse möglichst unverfälscht und mit hoher Qualität in elektronische Audiosignale zu wandeln. Das Buch beschreibt die Entwicklung eines sehr rauscharmen High Performance Mic Preamp mit anschließender Analog-Digital Wandlung. Der Mic Preamp dient dabei dazu, das Mikrofonsignal auf einen genormten Pegel vorzuverstärken. Aufgrund der beschriebenen Eigenschaften des menschlichen Gehörs muss dies mit einem sehr niedrigen Klirrfaktor erfolgen. Das aufbereitete Analogsignal wird dann in die standardisierten Digitalformate AES3 (Professional Format) bzw. S/PDIF (Consumer Format) gewandelt.
