Diese Frage nach Markteffizienz ist sowohl aus theoretischer als auch aus praktischer Sicht von großem Interesse und wird seit langem kontrovers diskutiert. Die Arbeit untersucht diese Problematik unter dem Aspekt, daß Anleger bei ihren Investitionsentscheidungen das Verhalten anderer Marktteilnehmer berücksichtigen («Imitationsverhalten»). Im Rahmen eines theoretischen Modells wird analysiert, unter welchen Bedingungen es zu Ineffizienzen kommen kann. Anschließend werden die strukturellen Vorhersagen des Modells mit empirischen Befunden konfrontiert.
