The use of biomass ("e.g." lignocellulose, algae, starch, etc.) as the present and future source of chemicals and fuels is currently being a matter of intense research. Many academic research groups and industries are actively investigating new (bio)chemical ways to produce a broad number of platform chemicals, from which all chemical segments could be covered. A reasonable updated state-of-the-art can be found in many review articles and devoted books. Herein, the idea is to edit a book in which industries can directly describe their activities in the field of biorenewables: from on-going research to commercialized processes. Thus, that approach would provide a unique viewpoint, from which each industry could show their (already patented) technologies, share the motivation of implementing a certain industrial biorenewable-based process, and finally suggest options for further improvement and research. Overall, the book would serve as a guide for industries and academic groups, providing crucial information for the set-up of future bio-based industrial concepts.
