This book develops a practical and evidence-based pathway for using Building Information Modelling (BIM) to improve Facilities Management (FM) during the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) phase of commercial buildings in China. Although BIM is widely adopted in design and construction, its use in day-to-day FM remains uneven, largely because practitioners lack clear guidance on what BIM-enabled data and information are truly needed, how these datasets should be integrated into FM workflows, and how such integration translates into measurable maintenance performance gains. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, this book first tests the relationships between BIM-FM information categories and maintenance performance through a large-scale quantitative analysis and then strengthens interpretation through qualitative interviews and coding.
