In January 2016, Chris David was grieving the loss of two close friends, facing the end of a tumultuous marriage, and heading into a custody battle for his youngest son. He was also thinking about how to kill himself. Convinced it would fix his problems and end his pain, he was standing on the edge of a cliff of despair, somewhere he never thought he would be. But as Chris David explains, there was one major problem with that plan.

"My wife may have wished me dead, but I didn't want to leave my sons without a father. I couldn't abandon them and let them feel the same way I did when I was a kid. My boys didn't deserve that. No matter what happened and how horrible I felt at that moment, I couldn't do that to them. I didn't want to do that to them."

Realizing he had some work to do on himself before he could be the father he needed to be, Chris began a five-month journey zig-zagging across the southern US with his lovable sheepdog O'Malley by his side. Using his inner voice as a guide, Chris's journey was marked along the way with "strangers" that would validate his choices and point him toward home.
