Was er lebte, transformierte er hinsichtlich seines Verständnisses der menschlichen Natur. Er berührte also Charakteristisches, dessen Zeugen alle Menschen sein können, wozu zum Beispiel bestimmte Denk-, Fühl- und Handlungsweisen gehören. Aber er tat das unbeeinflusst von den unmittelbaren Konventionen der ihn umgebenden Alltagskultur. Byars kleines Archiv ist nach dieser Ausstellung kein geheimes mehr, aber es ist trotz allem ein einzigartiges Schlüsselloch für einen Einblick in die Schaffensbreite des Künstlers James Lee Byars.§- Mark Gisbourne -
