Dennoch existieren fast nur Betrachtungen über Mills Leben und Werk. Während dabei jedoch im englischen Sprachraum eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit dem gesamten Werk Mills stattfindet, sind im deutschsprachigen Raum vor allem die Essays über Freiheit und Utilitarismus bekannt. Über Taylor Mill hingegen wird sowohl im englischen als auch im deutschen Sprachraum wenig geschrieben, auch ist über ihre gemeinsame Arbeit mit Mill wenig bekannt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, dieses Defizit soweit wie möglich auszugleichen.
