Com ens ajuden i què en podem aprendre Anna Maria Solanas La paraula bacteri sol provocar un sentiment de temor, probablement basat en prejudicis perquè fa pensar en els bacteris patògens, que són els que causen malalties però que tan sols representen un centenar d’espècies entre la desena de milers que hi ha. De fet, la resta ens proporcionen grans beneficis: per exemple, el planeta no es col·lapsa gràcies a aquests éssers vius, que descomponen la matèria orgànica perquè plantes i animals tinguin els minerals necessaris per sobreviure; el nostre cos no podria subsistir sense la munió de microorganismes amb què interacciona de manera profitosa, i, si no fos per l’acció dels bacteris, els mars serien plens d’hidrocarburs i hauríem perdut la guerra contra la contaminació química.
