Life Is the Placebo Effect

Introduction
"Life is the Placebo Effect" popped into my head one night while driving home from work, I saw a person standing on a street corner holding a tattered cardboard sign with the words "Anything helps God Bless!" scribbled across it.
When I first moved to the Springfield, Missouri area I was taken back at how many people frequented the street corners holding up signs asking for help. At first, I felt such compassion that I'd give what I could, whenever I could.
Pretty soon, I started to notice the same people, on the same street corners every day. It made me question the whole scenario. I wanted to do more than just help people momentarily, I truly wanted to make an impact on their lives in some way. I've had many people tell me they will never give money anymore, because they suspected that some of the homeless people where not homeless or destitute at all. Which is too bad for the people who truly need help. We should all keep an open mind and heart for one another.
I've learned to stop playing God in people's lives, that every one of us are on our own mission. There's a time and place where everyone of us must take charge of our own lives. Life is the Placebo Effect was written to help us humans see how we're affecting our lives on a daily basis.
When I do give, I give this small book with a little money tucked inside, it's without judgement or stipulations. Believing that I'd be blessed despite what that person was doing with their money that was given to them.
I believe this little book is great for anyone who wishes for a better life, no matter who you are.
For the last eighteen years I have lived by the principles of this book and changed my life into the kind of life I dreamt about as a small child. I believe anybody can do the same "if" they so choose.
Of course, ultimately, it's up to you to decide what kind of life you want.
