Formed in March 1892 by disaffected members of none other than Everton, two years later the club set the standard for future generations by storming to the Second Division title. Before World War One, Liverpool had twice been crowned champions of English football, a feat they repeated in consecutive seasons in the 1920s, then another in the 40''s and twice more in the 60''s under Shankley.
