Written by recognized national and international experts in the field, this reference compiles the steps necessary to preform, what pitfalls to watch out for, and troubleshooting tactics necessary for CTO PCI. Written to bring a practical and easy to read approach, this book is perfect for interventional cardiologists, interventional and general cardiology fellows, cardiology researchers, physicians, cardiac catheterization laboratory personnel, technical staff, industry professionals and everyone else interested in understanding the cutting edge and rapidly evolving field of CTO PCI. In this new edition, new figures, images, and algorithms will be developed to reflect the updates in CTO PCI during the past few years. The new edition will also link to approximately 200 CTO PCI cases accessible for free on YouTube hosted by the author, with monthly update on new cases. The structure of the book is completely revised to align it with the recently published Manual of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (published in Oct 2020, also by Dr. Brilakis under the same imprint Academic Press), such that although the new chapters may borrow some content from the 2nd edition, they are organised in completely different ways along with a huge amount of updates that they practically completely new chapters. Specifically, 14 new chapters will be added reflecting the steps of PCI, from planning, to pharmacology, to hemodynamic support. The new chapter 6, Angiography, will provide extensive information on use of coronary computed tomography for the assessment of coronary CTOs. Moreover, the various CTO PCI scores will be reviewed. The new chapter 8 on wiring will be updated to reflect changes in CTO crossing techniques, both antegrade and retrograde, as well as CTO crossing algorithms, including the new Global CTO crossing algorithm. The revised chapter on CTO PCI equipment (chapter 2 in old edition, chapter 17 in new edition) will be significantly edited, as several new equipment types (guidewires, microcatheters, guide extensions) have become available since the last edition.
