Mastering Elysia.js

"Mastering Elysia.js: Bun-Native API Development with End-to-End Type Safety"

Most API bugs are contract bugs: the server says one thing, the client assumes another, and the mismatch surfaces in production. This book is written for experienced TypeScript and backend developers who want to eliminate that class of failure. It shows how Elysia.js, running natively on Bun, lets a single definition drive validation, documentation, and client code.

You begin with the Bun runtime and the TypeScript inference machinery that makes Elysia's design possible. From there, the book covers type-safe routing, the typed context, and runtime validation with TypeBox. It then examines lifecycle hooks, plugin encapsulation, and consistent error handling. Finally, you generate OpenAPI documentation and build fully typed Eden Treaty clients, including monorepo sharing and authenticated requests.

The closing chapter applies these foundations to production concerns: JWT authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and deployment on Bun. The book assumes working knowledge of TypeScript and HTTP, and it explains mechanisms in depth rather than offering simplified recipes. Each chapter builds on the last through testable examples, with attention to trade-offs, version differences, and common pitfalls, so you can design and ship dependable services.
