In dieser Arbeit wurde die Induktionsphase beim Kristallisationsfouling hinsichtlich ihrer Wirkmechanismen experimentell untersucht und modelliert. Die Induktionsphase ist der Zeitraum zu Beginn einer unerwünschten Belagbildung, in welcher der Wärmedurchgang nicht reduziert ist. Der entsprechende Foulingwiderstand Rf ist in dieser Phase gleich Null oder sogar kleiner Null, wenn der Wärmeübergang aufgrund mikroskopischer Ablagerungen verstärkt wird. Es ist daher von großem Interesse, diese frühen Foulingstadien berechnen zu können, da Wärmeübertragungsprozesse bei Auftreten von Kristallisationsfouling in der Induktionsphase nicht reduziert werden. Die identifizierten Einzelmechanismen konnten in Initialisierung bzw. Keimbildung, Wachstum, Haftung und Abtragung unterteilt werden. In der Modellierung wurde zur Bestimmung der Induktionszeit ein Biot-Zahlen abhängiger Schwellenwert eingeführt. Entsprechende Simulationen mit Hilfe sequentieller Monte-Carlo-Methoden bekräftigten die gefundenen Zusammenhänge und bildeten die experimentellen Induktionszeiten ab.
