Monarch

"That night, on his couch,
She came to him in his dreams.
Filled his mind with gleeful slaughter.
Oh, the joy he felt to kill again!" -pg. 43, Monarch

Monarch is a psychological thriller told through poetry. In this third work by Nina Deveaux, she explores the nature of Violence and War told through the story of Travis and his descent into a murderer.

Travis survived many hells on this Earth.
He survived Iraq.
He survived his Father.

Yet, the stench of brimestone and sulfur remains.

Why? Shouldn't the therapy help? The Lithium?

His wounds ebb like a malevolent deity and demand tribute.

And who is there to pay up?

Ishtar, the goddess of war and love; she follows the scent of his rage, eager to give. In his slumber, Ishtar seduces him into becoming her new Champion. She gives him an opportunity to awaken as a Warrior with ferocity and vengeance.

Now, with his goddess's blessing, he can slaughter again.

Embrace and Conquer with Monarch.

Dive into the reality of what violence can turn a Man into.
