Gleiches gilt für die österreichische rechtssoziologische Tradition (u.a. Eugen Ehrlich). Vor diesem Hintergrund werden in einem historischen Überblick die diversen, oft vergessenen Verzweigungen österreichischer universitärer Rechtsphilosophie geschlossen dargestellt, so die Vormärzhegelianer, die herbartianische Rechtsphilosophie August Geyers, die «allgemeine Rechtslehre» Adolf Merkels, die rechtsphänomenologischen Bemühungen von Felix Kaufmann und Fritz Schreier, das Rechtsdenken von Eric Voegelin oder die «gegenstandstheoretische Rechtsphilosophie» von Johann Mokre.
