In the forgotten corners of the city, where poverty, desperation, and addiction thrive, a predator stalks the vulnerable.
Known only as Nightmare, he is a feared drug dealer who has built an empire by exploiting human weakness. He understands addiction better than the addicts themselves, using it as a weapon to manipulate, control, and destroy lives. To Nightmare, every craving is an opportunity, every broken soul a commodity.
Among his victims are Jazmine and Andre, a young couple with dreams of a future together. When Nightmare introduces drugs into their lives, what begins as temptation quickly becomes dependency. As addiction tightens its grip, their love deteriorates under the weight of deception, desperation, and self-destruction.
Andre descends into a world of theft and crime to support his growing habit, surrounding himself with others trapped in the same cycle. Meanwhile, Jazmine falls under the influence of Margie, a pregnant heroin addict whose own life has become a cautionary tale of addiction's devastating cost. Guided deeper into the underworld, Jazmine turns to prostitution in a desperate attempt to survive.
As the lives of those around Nightmare spiral downward, tragedy follows tragedy. Andre witnesses the violent deaths of friends before meeting his own brutal end during a desperate robbery gone wrong. Margie, consumed by hopelessness and shame, reaches a breaking point that ends in a horrifying act of despair.
When Jazmine discovers the aftermath of Margie's final moments, the psychological trauma proves too much to bear. Her mind fractured beneath the weight of everything she has endured, and she is committed to a mental institution.
Yet while countless lives are shattered, Nightmare remains untouched.
In the novel's chilling conclusion, he is seen watching another young couple from afar, assessing their vulnerabilities just as he once did with Jazmine and Andre. It is then revealed that Nightmare has never used drugs himself-not once. He has spent his life profiting from the addictions of others, feeding not on narcotics, but on power, humiliation, and control.
A haunting and uncompromising examination of addiction, exploitation, and human suffering, Nightmare exposes the devastating consequences of a world where some people profit from the destruction of others.
