NON-KINETIC INTERVENTIONS AND STRATEGIES FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT

Nigeria has found itself at a pivotal crossroads in recent years-facing complex security threats that conventional military approaches alone have struggled to resolve. Recognising the limitations of a solely kinetic approach, this book emerges at a crucial time to offer practical alternatives and fresh insights into achieving lasting national stability.

"Non-Kinetic Interventions and Strategies for National Security and Development" examines strategic alternatives to military force, focusing on Nigeria's complex security landscape. The book emphasises economic development, diplomatic engagement, economic empowerment, governance reforms, cybersecurity, and humanitarian aid as essential non-kinetic interventions necessary for achieving lasting peace and development.

Through global examples such as Singapore's socio-economic transformation, Rwanda's reconciliation processes, and China's Belt and Road Initiative, the book illustrates how effective governance, strategic economic planning, and targeted social initiatives can alleviate insecurity.

The book critiques Nigeria's traditional reliance on military solutions and presents compelling arguments for a broader approach based on strong institutional coordination, community engagement, and regional cooperation. It offers actionable policy recommendations aimed at policymakers and security practitioners, emphasising that long-term stability and prosperity depend on addressing the underlying socio-economic drivers of conflict. Therefore, the book repositions Nigeria toward a future characterised by stability, economic growth, and societal harmony.
