Der Übergang zur nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft bedeutete auch für die Propaganda das Ende aller ihr bekannter Gebrauchsformen. Infolge ihrer Transformation kam es nicht nur zur völligen Entstellung des propagandistischen Grundsatzes der Wahrheit, der sich dem Prinzip der Nützlichkeit zu unterwerfen hatte. Auch fand sich im Mittelpunkt dieses Verständnisses von Propaganda nun der Führer, der die "weibische" Masse im Akt der Rede zu unterwerfen suchte. Diese spezifischen Elemente jedoch gründen nicht auf den Vorstellungen der Nationalsozialisten. Deutlich hatte die Massenpsychologie ihre Spuren im Denken der NS- Führungsriege, im Speziellen bei Adolf Hitler selbst, hinterlassen. Dementsprechend versucht dieses Buch die Rolle massenpsychologischer Theoreme - exemplarisch erforscht anhand der Thesen des "Urvaters" der Massenpsychologie, Gustave Le Bon, sowie Sigmund Freuds - innerhalb der nationalsozialistischen Propagandatheorie herauszuarbeiten.
