America's first federal reparations payments are seven days away. The database was not altered to steal the money-it was altered to erase who is owed.

Dr. Amina Jefferson is a historian and forensic genealogist serving on the federal commission responsible for verifying descendant claims. Years of political conflict have produced a national reparations program combining community investment with individual payments supported by public records, family testimony, and community archives. As launch day approaches, the country is divided between celebration, protest, and the fear that one mistake could destroy the program before the first payment is issued.

Then Terrence Bell is rejected as historically impossible, even though his siblings were approved through the same ancestors. Amina discovers that the records linking Terrence to nineteenth-century Black landowner Mae Bell have vanished from both the federal index and a digitized county archive. Malik Ross, the cybersecurity architect who designed the system-and Amina's former fiancé-confirms that the changes came through authorized channels rather than an outside breach. Soon, similar rejections appear across multiple states, always affecting families connected to land, trusts, patents, insurance claims, and corporate successor assets.

The pattern points toward Creed Meridian, the data conglomerate paid to protect the verification process from fraud. But exposing the corruption before launch could hand the program's enemies the scandal they need to stop it. Suppressing the truth would make the government a partner in a second erasure. With courthouses burning, witnesses disappearing, and Amina herself framed as a saboteur, she and Malik must rebuild a record of stolen Black wealth from probate files, deeds, church registers, tax rolls, family Bibles, newspapers, pension documents, and archives scattered across the communities the official system failed.

Historically grounded and legally plausible, Reparations Day is a near-future political conspiracy thriller and genealogical mystery about repair, public memory, belonging, and the industries that profit from historical uncertainty. It is written for readers who enjoy historian heroines, corporate conspiracies, investigative puzzles, Black family history, government intrigue, ticking-clock launches, and suspense built around records with consequences in the present. The novel distinguishes documented history from its fictional program while asking a provocative question: if proof of an old crime could rearrange modern wealth, who would be powerful enough to make an entire family disappear on paper?

Read Reparations Day and follow the records powerful people would burn history to erase.
