Some people leave home. Some people spend the rest of their lives trying to get back to the version of themselves that existed there.

In New York, Solehn knew exactly who she was. Or at least the version everyone loved her for. At eighteen, she has the friends, the parties, and the carefully curated life she always wanted. But after her family suddenly falls apart, Solehn is forced to spend her final semester of high school in an affluent suburb outside Austin, Texas.

Desperate to survive starting over, Solehn becomes harder, sharper, crueler. But as she drifts through unfamiliar friendships, parties, rooftops, and the quiet loneliness of becoming someone new, one person keeps slipping past her defenses: Alexander, the quiet boy next door who seems to understand things she never says out loud.

Then one terrible night changes everything. With guilt closing in around her and a strange yellow umbrella appearing at exactly the wrong moment, Solehn is forced to confront the versions of herself she tried to leave behind.

Seasons of Blooming is a coming-of-age novel about identity, grief, girlhood, memory, and the uncomfortable question of whether changing as a person means becoming better or simply becoming someone else.
