Sedona Detour

Samantha came to Sedona looking for a photograph. She did not expect to find a man who could see everything she had been avoiding.

At twenty-five, Samantha is a talented photographer caught between the life she has and the one she cannot quite picture. Her longtime boyfriend, Liam, wants her to join him for six months in Kenya. Instead of giving him an answer, she books a last-minute trip to Sedona and checks into the Cozy Cactus, hoping unfamiliar light and red-rock country will restore the direction she has lost.

Andrew is a taxonomist, information architect, and devoted card collector who plans for every variable. His carefully ordered life leaves little room for surprises until Samantha joins him on a predawn hike, forgets her water, injures her ankle, and makes him laugh before he can decide whether he should. Their connection is immediate. So is the fact that she belongs to someone else.

What begins beneath the red rocks follows them beyond Sedona, through coastlines, airports, snow-covered beaches, missed timing, difficult honesty, and choices that cannot be reduced to right and wrong. Samantha must decide what she truly wants without turning either man into an answer. Andrew must risk living beyond the systems that have kept his world safe.

Because sometimes the detour turns out to be the destination.
