A book for genealogists, historians and for those with an interest in Lincolnshire and its people, Jean Collins offers a composite picture of how South Kelsey and many similar country villages developed over the centuries. In addition to comprehensive and thorough research through historical and village archives, Jean talked to many villagers who shared their personal memories, recollections and photographs, some of which, with their kind permission, are included in this book. This fascinating social history is a coherent account of many of the events and people that came together to make this lovely rural North Lincolnshire village. Written when in her late seventies, Jean brings the feeling of continuity in British Village Communities to life, demonstrating how each generation adds new technology and social mores to benefit their families and in turn change the lives of their neighbours. From developments in farming techniques to the increased social interaction through improved transport links and schooling.
