Sozialisation und Geschlecht?! - Woher weiß eine Person, bzw. ein Kind, welchem Geschlecht es sich zuordnen muß? - Wie gelangt diese Zuordnung in das Individuum? Durch Betrachtung verschiedener Konzepte zum Sozialisationsprozeß soll aufgezeigt werden, wie das Attribut "Geschlecht" in die Person gelangt. Dabei haben die im Laufe der Zeit entwickelten Sozialisationstheorien unterschiedliche Erklärungsmodi gefunden und sind dementsprechend auch mit unterschiedlichen Stärken und Schwächen behaftet. Eine Gegenüberstellung dieser Theorien i.S. allgemeiner Sozialisationstheorien sowie die Beschäftigung mit dem speziellen Sozialisationsfall des "Role-Taking und Role-Making", also der Geschlechtsrolle, sind Gegenstand dieses Buches.
