When I pray for folks or even for myself, I want to pray a scripture verse as well. There is a wondrous work in scripture that we often neglect. Take my advice as a doer of the Word, the Word works for us in many ways. It's alive and sharper than a two-edged sword.
I was recently praying with a good friend about her brother who got a difficult diagnosis. And my mind went to scripture as we talked and I shared my testimony of how my body was healed by the Word of God. Which ones Lord? Which scriptures would you have me to pray for these folks diagnosed with deadly ailments? We as Christians must stand together, pray, believe and declare the Word of God as it was meant for us to do from the beginning. God absolutely knew these things would happen to us since He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and The End, the First and the Last and He knows all things. His wisdom and knowledge is far beyond mine, so I submit it to Him and gain the grace that I need to push forward.
When we had cancer of the colon back in May of 2020, we were operated on in Ormond Beach, Florida by a well-known colon-rectal surgeon who took good care of us. At first the diagnosis was kinda scary but in fact we did not allow fear to come in. We felt strongly that this would be a minor affliction without minimizing the diagnosis, God strengthened us. We prayed and believed we would be healed and have a total recovery as miracles are still possible today.
While some believers thought it was no big deal (their opinion to me); the test was for me personally and we never take anything for granted or call it common. It could have been difficult but my faith was intact and fear was not an option so we listened to the voice of the LORD and stayed in the Word and in prayer. So many covered us in prayer at that much needed time. It was overwhelming.
Cancer has always been an adversary to everyone it touches. It was my adversary at the time; a new battle and we needed our God to do a big work because nothing is impossible for Him. (Luke 1:37)
Our faith in God was strengthened. We tried to stand still and hear from God. He told me we had to go and get it cut out by the doctors and we knew the prognosis would be good. Our minds had to be stayed on God because the doctors and the nurses tried unwittingly to sway us by the diagnosis. Defeat is not an option. Most did not understand our faith; a few comprehended some but most we had to chide a little bit here and a little bit there. They stopped their words against me pretty fast but rolled their eyes, regardless and turned away. They kept saying, "Let's see about your cancer." And I would say to them, "It's not my cancer, stop trying to give it to me, it is not my portion!"
Our rebuke caused eyebrows to raise and huffs and puffs to blowout from the negative attitudes that were exchanged but we walked out of there free from their words. Remember this body of yours and mine is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and we do not want their words to contaminate our spirits. We live for God and whether they do or not, we have a will to receive only good news. The bad news we give over to the Lord. He said cast our cares upon Him. (1 Peter 5:7) Remember to do this every time the mud hits the fan in your direction; please give it over to Father in Jesus mighty name. Don't hang onto it in order to suffer. This will be terrible!
So we are here to share it with you and you can pass it along to others who need this wisdom.
