High requirements in automotive industry concerning comfort, reliability and safety of cars make detailed and extensive testing necessary. In order to increase efficiency and to reach economical targets during development it is a common approach to use Hardware in Loop (HIL) applications. HIL systems simulate the environment to enable testing of real hardware for example engine control units. The company TESIS DYNAware develops and sells several models for simulating engines and cars on HIL systems in laboratory. The real time model enDYNA is currently used for developing and testing of engine control units. These models have to be verified and validated to be suited for testing of safety critical software in engine control units. To ensure a high software quality of these models and the generated real time code automated tests have to be performed. In this thesis the model coverage with help of Matlab/Simulink is determined and approaches for increasing the test coverage are given.
