The Briar Walker

Four years ago, Sadie Greene walked into the abandoned halls of Briar Hollow School and came out broken.

The town called what happened a tragedy. The sheriff called her death a suicide. The college moved on. So did the students who knew more than they ever admitted.

But the briars remembered.

When true crime student Tessa Monroe is brutally murdered during Homecoming week at Briar Hollow College, Harper Greer is pulled back into the night she has spent years trying to forget. Tessa had been investigating Sadie's death, digging through old footage, missing records, and a journal that should have stayed hidden. Now she is dead, and a masked figure from Briar Hollow legend has returned.

The Briar Walker wears a mud-streaked black raincoat, a pale deer-skull mask, and the rusted mouthpiece of an old miner's respirator. He carries a pruning hook. He does not speak. He only leaves messages.

One by one, the people connected to Sadie's death are hunted.

As Harper searches for the truth, old friendships collapse, buried guilt resurfaces, and the official story begins to unravel. Sadie did not die the way Briar Hollow said she did. Someone used the legend to hide a murder. Someone else is using it now to punish everyone who helped bury the truth.

But the deeper Harper digs, the more terrifying the truth becomes. The Briar Walker may not be one person. The killings may not all have the same motive. And the old school, wrapped in briars and smoke-stained memories, is waiting for Harper to return.

Some doors should never be opened.
