Nico Patel likes plans, checklists, and folders that know exactly what they are doing. Then his grandmother brings home Pickle, a bossy orange shelter cat with strong opinions about homework, backpacks, pencils, and anything Nico needs to finish on time.

At school, Nico's Paws After School group is creating a pet-care project and supply drive for a local animal shelter. Nico is sure he can organize everything himself. But between missing dog facts, a display board disaster, and one determined cat sitting on the most important papers, his perfect plan starts to fall apart.

As Pickle turns ordinary homework into chaos, Nico begins to notice something important: pets have their own ways of communicating. They watch routines, listen for familiar sounds, wait by bowls and doors, and ask for attention in ways people do not always understand.

But Pickle is not the only one Nico needs to listen to. If he wants to save the project, protect the friendship, and take real care of his new cat, Nico will have to learn that responsibility does not mean doing everything alone.
